Introduction
This course gives an introduction to Indian Head Massage with emphasis on learning practical massage in order to give a massage to friends and family. This is a non qualification course and will therefore not lead to a professional qualification, nor allow you to be able to carry out Indian Head Massage treatments for payment. Indian Head Massage works on areas affected by mental and emotional stress and can bring immediate relief. It also improves circulation in the head, enhances your senses, improves memory and promotes clear thinking.

Description
At the end of the course you will be able to recognise what Indian Head Massage is and its benefits, and be aware of the history of Indian Head Massage as performed in the UK today. You will be able to note the safety factors such as when NOT to carry out massage, and carry out a seated shoulders, neck and head massage with reference to a given sequence.

Duration
2 hours x 10 weeks Please note classes are term time only

Method of Study
For the first session you will need to bring a small folder for handouts, paper and a pen. Please wear flat shoes and loose, casual clothing (no polo neck jumpers). You will need to remove jumpers or sweatshirts to receive the massage when working in pairs. A short sleeved or sleeveless T shirt/vest top is preferable. Please do not wear jewellery of any description and no face make up. If students have any medical concerns as to their suitability to participate in this course they should consult their GP.

Progression
This course could lead to a further course such as ITEC. You would need to study ITEC Holistic Massage which includes Anatomy and Physiology before moving onto ITEC Indian Head Massage which would qualify you in Indian Head Massage.
