About this course

You should hold the VTCT Certificate in Swedish Massage and Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology or an equivalent professional qualification. Experience as a Massage Therapist is essential. You will be required to attend an interview.

Course aims:
The aims of this course is to provide you with an excellent grounding in a variety of remedial massage techniques to allow them to safely treat a wide array of clients in a clinical setting.
You will increase your grounding in anatomy and will also be given the opportunity to look at sport injuries, postural assessment and ways of building a thriving practice.

Course content:
The course consists of the following units:
  • Provide Advanced Massage Treatment
  • Use Interpersonal Skills with Therapy Clients

A variety of teaching and learning methods are used including lecture, demonstration, individual project work group work and discussion.

Facilities for students:
The college has excellent facilities for both theory and practical work.
These include 3 large, well-equipped and recently modernised Beauty/Holistic salons and a large reception area that serves both Hair and Beauty.

Tutors:
The Beauty and Holistic team is staffed by highly motivated tutors that are passionate about their subjects and have excellent links with employers.
The lecturer on this course is Nathalie Mineau, a highly skilled Massage, Sports therapist and Craniosacral therapist with twenty years experience.

Assessment: Written Assignments, Written and Practical Assessments, Portfolios & Research work.

Entry Requirements:
You should hold the VTCT Certificate in Swedish Massage and Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology or an equivalent professional qualification. Experience as a Massage Therapist is essential. You will be required to attend an interview.

Progression and links:
After successfully completing this course there are various other Part-time Holistic courses such as Reflexology, Aromatherapy & Indian Head Massage and can lead to further full time courses in osteopathy or acupuncture.
This qualification enables the therapist to work in industry as a therapist in sport centres, a manager or clinic owner.

Work experience opportunities:
Students are required to have at least six month experience in massage and to regularly treat clients of their own.

Qualification in Context and Future Opportunities: Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage.
