Course Summary:
The Brickwork Level 1 Diploma at Nescot is a part-time evening course but a full-time option is available for under 19 year olds. The combination of practical and theory sessions will enable you to gain good practical skills with underpinning job knowledge of Brickwork. You will work towards achieving 7 units of competence throughout the year which will culminate in an end of year City & Guilds examination.

- Knowledge of building methods and construction technology
- Know how to carry out basic blocklaying skills
- Know how to carry out basic bricklaying skills
- Know how to carry out basic cavity walling
- Know how to contribute to setting out and building basic masonry structures up to damp course level.

Other Information:

Students are required to provide steel toe-capped boots and overalls for practical work.

Requirement
Under 19: 2 GCSE's at grade D or above, one of which must be Maths, and being employed in the trade. You will have an informal advisory interview with a construction tutor. Your discussion with the tutor will be for approximately 30 minutes and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and to find out more about the content of the course. Over 19: Will attend the advisory inteview with a construction tutor.
