Part Time British Horse Society Horse Owners' Certificate Level 1 (Evening)
Course Description:
The course is aimed primarily at new horse owners or parents of pony mad children and as an introductory course to other equestrian programmes.
It is a short theoretical course to teach people how to look after a horse and what to look for when purchasing a horse. The course will also give an overview of the care of the horse at each level. There is no practical work involved.
Content
There will be lectures on what to look for when buying a horse, the care of the horse in the stable, feeding and nutrition, tack and its care, shoeing and minor ailments of the horse.
You will work in a group of about 10 and your weekly timetable will be two hours. You should plan to spend at least another two hours on reading around the subject in your own time.
