Course Overview Modules on this course carry credits which can lead to a BTEC qualification. Learners will gain the knowledge to search and apply for jobs and build confidence in interview situations. Learners need to bring pen and paper to the course and wear appropriate dress for a mock interview in the final week.

Qualification gained: Each learning module carries BTEC credits. Completion of all modules on this course will attract 3 credits equating to a BTEC Award. Learners can build on these credits to gain further BTEC qualifications.

Course Content: The course will run 1 day per week over a 4 week period and involve formal teaching in the morning session followed by assignment work in the afternoon. Course modules and learning outcomes are as follows: 1. Applying for a job Learners will gain an understanding of different methods of applying for jobs; identify and assemble relevant information for the job application form and present information accurately and in a suitable format. 2. Preparing for an interview Learners will know how to respond to questions they might be asked at interview; prepare appropriate questions to ask the interviewer and make appropriate plans to arrive at the interview on time. 3. Interview skills Learners will use appropriate means of non-verbal communication such as body language, facial expressions and tone of voice to present themselves appropriately at interview; answer interviewer's questions appropriately and be able to describe their performance at the interview - what went well and what did not.

Course Assessment: Assignment based assessment with a practical assignment at the end of the course.

Progression: Further Work Skills Packages. Build up further BTEC credits leading to certificate/diploma.
