The Course
This course is aimed at students who wish to prepare a portfolio for Higher Education, including the Northbrook BA (Hons) Contemporary Photographic Arts and our new Foundation Degree in Fashion and Advertising (subject to validation). This course explores the creative nature of photography and marries the contemporary digital age using AppleMac computers with professional Image Manipulation and Image/Text software, with the magic of early Victorian processes and traditional film/darkroom practice including the use of large format 10x 8 cameras.
Students will explore a range of photographic themes including Portraiture, Still Life, Landscape/Cityscape, Documentary, Experimental Imagery, etc and engage with the process of producing a variety of alternative techniques, including cyanotypes, albumen prints and gum bichromates.
Most of our students progress to BA courses and, in recent times, students graduating from our part-time photography courses have gone on to have their work published or exhibited, or won competitions, including the Channel 4 Picture This series.
