Course description
The aim of this 10 week course is to provide an introduction to book-keeping practices and the processing of the source documents that underpin accurate record keeping. Exam fees are included
In the context of a simple sole trader business, you will learn how to:
Complete, check and process documents such as invoices and credit notes
Record cash and credit transactions in books of original entry
Complete ledger postings and prepare a Trial Balance and Bank Reconciliation Statement.

Final award
You will take the City & Guilds Level 1 examination which lasts 1.5 hours (plus 5 minutes reading time) at the end of the course.

No previous qualifications are needed.
Career steps
Successful candidates at level 1 would be qualified for employment in a junior role in an accounts office, and may like to consider progressing to level 2 and/or AAT NVQ in Accounting.
