Course Details

The course aims to give teaching assistants the knowledge and skills to support pupils in schools and to facilitate good practice. Candidates will cover units in: Level 1 Unit 1 Supporting the curriculum Unit 2 Working with the school Level 3 Unit 1 Role of the teaching assistant in school Unit 2 Supporting pupils with particular learning needs

Qualifications required:
No formal qualifications are required. Candidates should be over 18 years of age and should have a good level of general education. A placement (paid or voluntary) in a school is essential.

Course hours:
Unit 1 - 4 hours for 15 weeks. Unit 2 - 4 hours for 15 weeks

Stationery and recommended text books All students must have a clear check from the Criminal Records Bureau. Minimum Attendance 80%

Progression:
Successful candidates may progress from Level 2 to Level 3 or other related qualifications i.e. Foundation Degree in Pre-16 Learning and Teaching Support.
