Suitable For

The CACHE Introduction to Childcare Practice (Home-based) course is designed for those wishing to take up a role as a Registered Childminder. It is a pre-registration course. It is also suitable for other early years workers especially nannies and foster carers who work in a domestic setting.

Course Content

There are five units that make up the Diploma in Home-Based Childcare and this is the first of those. Topics covered on the course for this first unit include: Establishing a safe and healthy childcare environment in a home-based setting, routines for home-based childcare, providing play, managing behaviour, child protection and starting a home-based childcare service.

Method of Assessment

Candidates will be assessed through a multiple choice question paper set by CACHE and set on days specified by the awarding body.

Progression

On successful completion of the course, students may wish to progress onto NVQ 2 or NVQ 3 Children's Care Learning & Development depending on experience.
