Part Time Carpentry & Joinery (Diploma Level 3)

Course Description:
Each trainee who attends this programme of training will be working towards credits for an Advanced Construction Award and a National Vocational Qualifications.   • Occupational Method of Work



Level 3 Units Site Joinery

  • Install First Fixing
  • Install Second Fixing
  • Erect Structural Carcassing Components
  • Complex Structural Work



Level 3 Units Bench Joinery

  • Setting out Details
  • Mark Out Work Products
  • Manufacture Products
  • Complex Shaped Products
  • Set up and use Fixed Machines

Assessment and Progression:
Trainees who successfully achieve the units are awarded an ACA in Wood Occupations Site or Bench Joinery. If the student produces the correct amount of Work Based Evidence from site he/she will be awarded an NVQ Level 3.

Progression
On completion of an NVQ Level 3 a choice of routes are available:

  • The Chartered institute of Building Certificate in Site Supervisory Studies
  • A bridge year to HNC in Construction
  • It should be noted that as the holder of a Level 3 qualification they could be admitted direct onto the HNC but in all probability would find they needed the bridge year input on topics such as Analytical Methods (Mathematics), Science and Materials, Surveying, Measurement etc

One year at one day a week (plus 3 weeks block release)
