Course Details

BS7671:2008 requirements for Electrical Installations (IEE Regulations 17th Edition) is the national electrical code for the electrical industry, setting standards for the safe design, selection, erection and inspection and testing of electrical installations. The City and Guilds 2382-10 full course is intended to bring qualified and experienced electricians up to date with the current requirements of BS7671. This qualification is essential for progression in the electrical industry and a mandatory entry requirement for the City and Guilds 2391/2392 courses in inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations at Hull College. Demand for the course is very high and prospective learners are encouraged to enrol early to avoid disappointment. The course covers the main requirements of the 17th Edition, including: Scope, object and fundamental principles for safety Assessment of general characteristics Protection for Safety Selection and Erection of Equipment Inspection and Testing Special Installations and Locations Assessment: You will need to pass an externally set examination by City and Guilds to successfully complete the course. Successful candidates are awarded a City and Guilds 2382 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations.

Qualifications required:
The course is only available to practising, qualified electricians with relevant industrial experience who possess or are working towards a Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation work. Written evidence of your qualifications must be produced at enrolment. For this reason learners must attend College to enrol. Consideration will be given to others with suitable alternative qualifications and experience but selection will be by interview only with the course tutor. Those who do not meet the entry requirements will need to take preparatory qualification(s) in electrical installation work which satisfy the entry requirements before being considered for the course.

One evening per week from 6.00pm until 9.00pm. Candidates are advised however that extensive home study is an essential course requirement!
