About this course

Experience of managing a play setting and qualified in NVQ Level 2 in Playwork, plus literacy skills relevant to Level 3. This course is particularly suitable for candidates who are managing play provisions for children aged 5 to 14 years. These provisions can cover a wide range - including out of school clubs, adventure playgrounds and other open access facilities.

Course Details

Students study 5 mandatory units: Contribute to an organisational framework that reflects the needs and protects the rights of children and young people. Develop and maintain a healthy, safe and secure environment for children. Develop and promote positive relationships. Plan and support self-directed play. Reflect on and develop practice. Students also choose 4 units from a list of 12 options covering a wide range of management issues. Workshops available to provide tutorials support and underpinning knowledge and to help with practical ideas.

Qualifications required:
Experience of managing a play setting and qualified in NVQ Level 2 in Playwork, plus literacy skills relevant to Level 3. This course is particularly suitable for candidates who are managing play provisions for children aged 5 to 14 years. These provisions can cover a wide range - including out of school clubs, adventure playgrounds and other open access facilities.

Course hours:
Equivalent to 4 hours and workbase. Attendance will also be expected at quarterly workshops at the college.
