WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR THE COURSE?
A Level 2 Certificate or equivalent e.g. A minimum of 40 hours previous counselling skills training. Voluntary work experience may also be taken into account.

COURSE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
The course aims to investigate various counselling methods and their use in context, with particular emphasis upon client-centred counselling.

The syllabus covers:

• The counsellor's personal development
• Self awareness
• Continuing development of practical skills with reference to a structured counselling model
• The ethical nature of counselling
• Development of a counsellor's personal code of conduct

ASSESSMENT
Ongoing tutorials using a personal journal method
A portfolio of evidence
A project on a area of counselling of particular interest to yourself
Short end test

WHERE COULD THE COURSE LEAD?
NCFE Diploma in Counselling or specialist training.
