EDEXCEL BTEC Level 3 Award in Photography

Course Details

The BTEC Level 3 Award in Photography is a specialist programme of study that allows students to focus on a chosen area and is designed to be work-related. Students will develop a specific set of practical skills, exploring techniques, equipment and materials as well as undertaking research into the work of photographers. The course is made up of two specialist units, both units are digitally based and some work may be developed using Photoshop. Understanding and use of visual language, written critical analysis and evaluation is an import element of coursework and the programme. Access to professionally equipped studios will support delivery of this qualification. Both units will be assessed and individually graded as 'pass', 'merit' or 'distinction. A pass in both units is necessary to achieve the Level 3 Award.

EDEXCEL BTEC Level 2 Award in Photography

Additional info:
Students will need access to a digital SLR or Digital compact camera with manual controls (AV/TV/M). Advice on other materials/costs will be provided at interview. Due to the nature of the activity, informal one to one guidance is preferred to ensure correct entry onto courses. Therefore please contact the Art and Design Office directly.

Progression:
This qualification can provide a good grounding to progress to a full time option of the National Diploma in Photography or OCN Access Diploma (Art and Design).
