The Course
This part time course is integrated with the successful full time Foundation Studies Course in Art, Design and Media.
The course provides an initial stage of broad diagnostic study to help students decide or confirm an area of specialisation. This is then followed by specialist studies and the building of a portfolio of work for application to full time or part time Degree courses in Art and Design. It is also recognised that some students may wish to pursue this course for its own sake rather than progressing to Higher Education.

Entry Requirements
Applications are invited particularly from mature students and those whose life circumstances make attendance on a part time course an appropriate option. There are no formal academic requirements and acceptance will be based on an interview and presentation of a portfolio of work.
Portfolios can include any creative work which demonstrates visual interest and liveliness. This could include, Painting, Drawing, Sculpture or Photography but also any Design or Craft work which shows an interest in ideas or in the resolution of visual, functional or communication problems.
Interviewers will be looking for evidence of commitment; individuality of thinking and a clear interest in Art and Design.

Other Costs
Although some art materials are provided, students will need to buy additional drawing and painting materials, sketchbooks, 3D materials etc during the course. The College Art Shop offers discounts to students. There are two study visits each year.
