Formal qualifications are not necessarily expected. Applicants should have good levels of literacy and numeracy, and those between the ages of 18-25 should normally have achieved a GCSE or equivalent qualification in the same or related subjects to grade D standard. Applicants without such qualifications may, where appropriate, be asked to complete a college devised test to ensure they have the level of knowledge and skills required for success on an intensive Level 2 course.

All GCSE language programmes require previous experience of study at Level 1, such as the NVQ Beginners Language courses provide.

Applicants may normally enrol for ONE subject only during any one academic year, although exceptions may be made for suitable candidates who wish to study two subjects.
