Course Description: The aim of this programme is to provide students with the underpinning knowledge, skills and competencies necessary to enhance and develop a career, specialising in the repair and maintenance of Light or Heavy Vehicles (Trucks and Buses). Evidence produced can be used to support a NVQ Level 3 Advanced Modern Apprenticeship.

The following units are covered:

  • G1: Contribute to workplace good housekeeping;
  • G2: Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety;
  • G3: Maintain positive working relationships;
  • MR07: Diagnose and rectify vehicle engine units and component faults;
  • MR08: Diagnose and rectify commercial vehicle chassis systems and component faults;
  • AE06G: Diagnose and rectify auxiliary equipment electrical faults and
  • MR13: Diagnose and rectify commercial transmission and driveline system faults


Entry Requirements:
  • Successful completion of the Level 2 award and/or appropriate industry experience.
  • An ability to perform 'hands-on' problem solving tasks.
