About this course

You will be required to sit an entry aptitude test and score a minimum of 60%. GCSE's at grade D or above in Maths, English and Science would be desirable.

Intermediate Technical Plumbing Certificate

Is this course right for me?

This 2 year day-release course gives you the opportunity to build on your basic plumbing skills and knowledge. It is suitable for those in employment who are unable to commit to studying full time.

What will I be learning?

This course is aimed at people working within the plumbing industry who wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification as evidence of their competence.

The units of study you will undertake will be selected from the following: key plumbing principles, common plumbing processes, central heating system, saftey systems, environmental awareness, effective working relationships, emplyer rights and responsibilities, pipework, sheet lead weathering, cold water systems, domestic how water systems and sanitation systems.

How will I learn?

You will need to complete practical assignments, theoretical tests, a portfolio of work-based evidence and a Health and Safety test.

What else might I want to know?

It would be desirable for you to be working in the plumbing industry to undertake this qualification.

You will need to provide your own protective clothing, footwear, textbooks and stationery.

What can I do afterwards?

Successful completion at this level will allow entry to the NVQ Level 3 for those in a work placement. For those who are not currently employed in the industry there is the option of continuing study by progressing to the Level 3 Technical Certificate, you will be required to undertake an initial interview with a Level 3 Course Tutor prior to enrolling on this course.
