The programme provides a balanced set of courses from the both the Computer Science and the Business subject areas.
Study details / Module information *

The MBA(IT) programme offers a balanced mix of Business, Management, Computer Science and IT modules. Students will study a core set of modules covering topics such as Strategic Management of IT and Management Strategy. In addition, as the programme has been designed to allow students to focus their studies on either management or technology, they will be able to select from a range of modules such as Knowledge Management; IT Project Management and e-Business.

The programme combines academic and practical modules, consisting of 8 taught modules (5 compulsory, 3 electives) and a dissertation (final research project), adding up to 180 credits. You will be assessed for each module. Assessment methods may include practical coursework, essays, reflective reports, presentations, a project proposal and a dissertation.

Research Environment
The Department of Computer Science brings together multi-disciplinary research interests and substantial experience and expertise in the field of Computer Science and Informatics. Its aim is to facilitate research into Intelligent and Distributed Systems, Computer Simulation and Modelling, Data Engineering, Operations Research, Bioinformatics, Software Engineering, Human Computer Interactions (HCI), and Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW). In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008), 60% of the research submitted by the Department was judged to be of 'international recognition and excellence'. The Department's commitment to research includes an on-going research seminar and conference programme with speakers from around the globe; a state-of-the-art research facility, the Intelligent and Distributed Systems (IDS) laboratory; and opportunities for PhD bursaries for outstanding postgraduate students with demonstrated research potential.

Graduates will have developed Business and Management, and IT related analytical skills which are highly valued in the manufacturing, science, engineering and technology industries, as well as IT and related business industries.
