As this is a qualification based course all applicants will need to attend a practical interview session at which the Course Leader will decide on the suitability of applicants before being accepted for this subject. This course requires considerable commitment and a keen sense of dedication and enthusiasm to complete, along with a real interest in Photography.

Suitable For

This one-year course is recommended for mature students who have some Photography experience wishing to develop photographic and technical skills and experience in visual thinking. The course could also provide invaluable experience in contributing towards the preparation of a portfolio for higher education.

Course Content

The course is taught through supervised practical workshops using a variety of approaches, including learning how to look accurately and exploring methods of recording observations and ideas. The course starts with an extensive technical programme of study introducing all of the main aspects of photography. This includes traditional black and white darkroom techniques, studio lighting and digital photography.

Method of Assessment

There is no final examination as you will be set projects and assignments based on the units studied throughout the course. You will be assessed continuously in lessons and on the set assignments and will be given feedback on your work. All units of work will need to be completed and passed in order to achieve this qualification.

Progression

On successful completion of the course students may wish to progress onto higher qualifications.
