Course Description
On completion of the course the learner will be able to carry out a woodworking task. Following a given plan, they will learn how to choose the correct tools for the task and carry out work in such a way as to minimise waste and risk to their own personal safety.

Course Structure
The course comprises of the following learning outcomes:

• Conform to Health and safety requirements whilst carrying out work tasks
• Carry out woodwork tasks according to plans (select appropriate tools materials and equipment to carry out task)
• Work appropriately with materials and tools to carry out a woodwork task (Apply/install a common range of materials and components, dispose correctly of any waste materials during and upon completion of the tasks)
• Clean and store tools correctly

The course will be predominately practical based however there will be a small amount of theory to ensure the learning outcomes are met.

The course will be run on an evening over a 20 week period.

Dates and times are to be confirmed (Possibly over 10 weeks/ 2 nights per week).

Course Entry Requirements
All learners will need to complete an application form and interview prior to enrolling.

No formal entry requirements required.

Course Progression
Possible progression onto Diploma Level 1 (Subject to interview)
