Course Description
This course will cover the use of tools, preparation, backgrounds and techniques needed to apply decorative paint effects.

Course Structure
The course comprises of the following learning outcomes:

• Conform to Health and Safety requirements associated with decorative paints and glazes
• Prepare work area for tasks (selection of tools, assess the suitability of backgrounds, prepare and protect the work area and fittings)
• Store materials and equipment safely
• Identify and produce decorative effects (paint effects, glaze effects, stencil effects)
• Re-instate the work area (replace furniture and fittings correctly without causing any damage)

The course will be predominately practical based however there will be a small amount of theory to ensure the learning outcomes are met.

The course will be run on an evening over a ten week period. The date and times are to be confirmed.

Course Entry Requirements
All learners will need to complete an application prior to enrolling.

No formal entry requirements required.

Course Progression
Possible progression onto 6217 Painting and Decorating Basic Skills (Subject to interview)
