Is this course right for me?

If you are working in the painting and decorating trade and can demonstrate competence in the workplace you will be best suited to this course. Your knowledge will also be broadened and assessed during this two-year course.

What will I be learning?

The units of study you will undertake are as follows: Confirm to Work Place Safety, confirm to efficient working practices, move and handle resources, errect and dismantle work platforms, apply paint systems by brush and roller and prepare surfaces for decoration.

This course is aimed at people working within the Painting and Decorating industry who wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification as evidence of their competence.

How will I learn?

You will need to complete practical assignments, theoretical tests, a portfolio of work-based evidence and a Health and Safety test. A suitably experienced person at your place of work will be required and a college work-based assessor will record your progress on site.

What else might I want to know?

You will need to provide your own protective clothing, footwear, textbooks and stationery. All other personal protective equipment will be provided.

What can I do afterwards?

On successful completion of the course you will be able to progress onto an NVQ level 3 in Painting and Decorating.
