Course description
This qualification entitles an individual to apply for a Personal Licence. A Personal Licence is granted to an individual and authorises that individual to sell alcohol in accordance with the terms of the premises licence to the place where the alcohol is being sold.
Under the licensing act 2003 a single integrated system has been introduced throughout England and Wales to regulate the sale and supply of alcohol, the provision of entertainment to the public and the provision of late night refreshments.
Under the act there is a statutory requirement that all retail sales of alcohol must be made or authorised by a Personal Licence Holder. One of the statutory requirements for the grant of a Personal Licence is the possession of a qualification that has been accredited by the Qualification and Curriculum Authority.
The BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders meets both these criteria.
Course Structure
The certificate is a one day course held at the Hub. It commences at 9.00am and finishes at 7.00pm. The examination is taken in the final session of the day.
In order to sit the exam proof of identification is required. Details of these are sent out in the information pack following successful enrolment.
The examination is by multiple-choice question paper. The examination consists of 40 questions divided into two parts.
Part 1 consists of 8 compulsory questions. All eight must be answered correctly to pass the test. Part 2 consists of 32 questions, 22 of these must be answered correctly to pass the test. Forty minutes are allowed to complete the examination.
