Students will need to have an ITEC recognised qualification in Anatomy and Physiology before they can take this course. Qualification gained: If successful the student will gain an ITEC Diploma in Reflexology
Course Content: 1. History and development of reflexology 2. Disease and disorders 3. Holistic approach to therapy 4. Structure of hands and feet 5 Client consultation and Care 6. Contraindications to the treatment. 7. Reading the feet 8. Identification of Reflex points and Zones on feet 9. Effects of stress on the body. Each class covers both theory and practical input, Students will practise on each other and members of the public
Work Experience: No work experience required
Course Assessment: Sixty treatment evidence assignments and ten reflective case studies of four treatments each are required to be completed, some of which will be achieved within practicsl lessons. These assignments are marked by the tutor and sampled by the ITEC practical examiner. Exams are externally assessed by ITEC: one multiple choice theory examination and one practical examination with an external examiner assessing practical technique and client care skills.. You will need to answer oral questions during this exam. The exams will be held in July so students should not book holidays until the date is confirmed.
Progression: This is a professionally recognised qualification and so would compliment Aromatherapy, Massage, Indian Head Massage and any other complimentary therapy.
Homework: Case studies will take up approximately 100 hours in total. Assignments and homework approx 3 -6 hours per week
Additional Costs: Students will need to have a uniform e.g. tunic top and trousers which cost approx 70.00. A couch is not essential for this course although would be helpful when carrying out case studies. Towels and blankets/ bolsters, couch roll and wipes, creams and cornflour will need to be purchased to complete the case studies. The reflexology element requires at least one text book, apporixmate cost 40.00.

- Part Time Course Fee Relate to Year 1 course fees only. Two year course fees will have an additional course fee for the second year; these fees are subject to confirmation annually.

Entry Requirement
Students will need to have an ITEC recognised qualification in Anatomy and Physiology before they can take this course. Level 3 diploma in pathology, principles and practices of complementary therapies, business and Health & Safety are also required. These can be taken alongside the reflexology course (joining the holistic massage students for 3 lessons and unertaking additional work in the student's own time with support from the tutor). No previous experience is needed in Reflexology but a strong interest in the subject along with good interpersonal skills and a keen interest to work with people in a therapeutic context are essential.
