Course Content

This course provides a basic assessment of the candidate`s ability to prepare for work safely whilst working with horses, addressing their handling and day to day care. Some interpersonal skills will also be assessed.

Course Features

This course is practically based and students are given the opportunity for plenty of practice before any assessments are considered.

The portfolio is built up to show underpinning knowledge throughout the academic year at the student's own pace.

Health and safety practices are introduced at the first practical session and re-inforced throughout the course.

Access to well-behaved horses in the college stables

All students are assessed for any learning problems and help and support is offered in class.

A popular course, with students achieving at a pace linked to their ability.
Career Prospects and Progression

This introduces the student to the horse care educational route. Future training will be necessary for potential employment routes.
