Is this course right for me?

This course aims to provide Technicians with a DEFRA approved qualification, for Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) and for handling F-Gas. It contains 3 units; Refrigerant Handling, Mobile Air Conditioning Principles, Advanced Diagnostics for Air Conditioning and Climate Control systems.

What will I be learning?

This 6 week course runs for 3 hours per week and covers the operating principles of both air conditioning and climate control systems. Theory is backed up with practical sessions where you will be able to reclaim, vacuum, recharge and check system operation. This includes diagnostics and methods of leak detection. You will have training in the following areas;

• Health & Safety
• Refrigerant Handling (EC842-2006)
• Fundamentals of air conditioning and climate control
• R134A reclaim-recharge-check operation
• Component identification
• System diagnostics

How will I learn?

You will be assessed through completion of a portfolio which includes assessments in practical activities, written phase tests and on line tests

What else might I want to know?

You will be required to supply and wear personal protective equipment during practical sessions (safety boots and overalls).

What can I do afterwards?

There are opportunities to achieve other qualifications within Automotive.
