This course leads to Unit 7 of the OCR Level 2 Certificate and Diploma for IT Users (CLAiT Plus) qualification: Website Creation. CLAiT Plus is designed for those with some experience of using computers who wish to increase their efficiency as an IT user and improve their computer capabilities. It equips learners with the broad range of transferable skills necessary to meet the demands of the modern workplace, and will prepare learners for progression to training in IT User skills at Level 3. The qualification recognises complex and specialist skills in the use of IT in vocational contexts. Over 2 million people in the UK now hold CLAiT certificates, making CLAiT the benchmark qualification in IT. Each unit of CLAiT Plus is certificated separately and is regarded as a worthwhile achievement in its own right, meaning learners have the option of achieving as many or as few units as are appropriate for their own learning needs or employment situation. For learners who wish to achieve the CLAiT Plus Level 2 Certificate for IT Users qualification, Unit 1 (Integrated e-Document Production) plus any other two units must be successfully completed. To achieve the Level 2 Diploma, learners must achieve Unit 1 plus any other four units.
Course Content:
In this unit learners will learn how to use software to select, present, manipulate and amend data and publish the website on the Internet. Learners will develop proficiency in the software to be used, along with a sound understanding of common HTML concepts and features, web page formatting and web site structure. There is no interview required.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed by one of the following methods: 1. An OCR-set practical assignment with an expected duration of 3 hours. The assignment is set in a realistic scenario and is designed to allow the candidates to use their knowledge and understanding to demonstrate skill in each assessment objective in a logical and realistic way. Students work will be college-assessed and externally moderated by OCR. 2. An OCR-set scenario or a substantial practical project devised by the College. Progression Routes:
Learners who wish to extend their skills at Level 2 will be able to progress to other units in the CLAiT Plus qualification. P for details of the other units offered by the College at this level. Learners who are successful in achieving the full CLAiT Plus Level 2 Certificate/Diploma for IT Users will be able to progress directly to the Level 3 Certificate/Diploma for IT Users (CLAiT Advanced). CLAiT Plus also provides a basis for progression to the NVQ Level 3 for IT Users (part of the iTQ suite).
