This course if for students with existing skills for example having undertaken Pattern Cutting 1 and 2, full/foundation fashion degree, costume students, HND/HNC. The tutor will assess your skills prior to enrolment.

You will explore advanced pattern manipulation using full size and 1/4 scale skirt, trousers, bodice and sleeve blocks. These can be personal blocks or standard size.

About this course

To be able to manipulate basic block patterns into stylish garments that fit.

Anyone who wants to make their own dressmaking patterns.
Fashion and costume students (under and post graduate) welcome

This course explores advanced pattern cutting and manipulation. You will need a skirt, trousers, bodice and sleeve blocks (either personal or standard size).
You will have studies pattern drafting and manipulation either on my Pattern Cutting 1 and (or) Pattern Cutting 2 courses, have previous pattern cutting experience of have a foundation/full fashion or costume degree, HND/HNC or BTech.
Sorry but this course is not suitable for beginners.

We offer tuition that is highly practical. Our tutor is qualified to degree level and has many years in industry and teaching experience. We support all learners to achieve taking into account their pre-existing skills and aims. Our courses are affordable and flexible, friendly and fun.

Jane has worked for many years as a couture designer/maker and has breadth of teaching experience in adult, further and higher education. Jane set up UCTuition in 2005 in response to diminishing practical skills courses for adult learners. Course review:

This advanced pattern cutting course is an ideal follow-on for students who have undertaken Pattern Cutting 1 – garment blocks and Pattern Cutting 2 – style adaptations or are confident in their existing cutting skills and would like to take them further.

I will introduce more complex cutting techniques giving you a breadth of skills to tackle complicated styles such as raglan sleeves, funnel necks, revers, kimono sleeves, advanced dart manipulation and suppression skills.

This course is for dressmakers who want to take their styles to the next level. Fashion, costume students and teachers are welcome.

Additional information

If Pattern Cutting 1 and 2 have left you wanting to know even more or you have pattern cutting skills you would like to explore further this course will introduce more complex cutting giving you a breadth of skills to tackle complicated styles.

If you do not have a set of personal blocks you can use my standard size blocks. Fashion and costume students are very welcome.

This course is for students who have completed Pattern Cutting 1 and 2 or have existing pattern cutting skills.
