Underpinning knowledge

1. identify skin types, conditions and characteristics

2. describe the products suitable for use with different skin types, conditions and characteristics and their key ingredients

3. identify known contra-indications which prevent or restrict make-up treatments

4. state the benefits of using highlighting and shading products to alter the contour of the face adapted

5. identify the contra-actions that may result from a make-up treatment

6. describe the aftercare advice that should be provided

7. explain how natural ageing, lifestyle and environmental factors affect the condition of the skin

8. describe the structure of a cell and epithelial tissue

9. describe the structure and function of the skin

10. describe the appearance of skin diseases and disorders

11. identify bones of the head, neck and shoulder girdle

If you have not worked in the Beauty Industry or studied any other formal beauty or holistic qualifications, you will be required to achieve Working in the Beauty Industry units 201, 202, 203 on line distance learning and an on-line exam in college. (A cost of £50 is required to cover the registration and exam fees) You are required to wear a salon uniform or all black.
