Course programme

What will I learn?

This one year course focuses on the production process, acting, physical theatre, dance, singing, business and technical theatre You will get the opportunity to perform a range of devised and scripted pieces in the Lanfranc Theatre to students and invited audience members You will also learn about the industry and explore job opportunities within the performing arts This course now includes an introduction to production where you will begin to look at the technical aspects of staging a performance The course is designed to be a professional representation of industry standards, it will help you to develop key personal skills such as communication, confidence and time management

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed on your performance and written work throughout the year You will work towards units which include criteria such as body language, voice skills, professionalism and production skills During the course you will be expected to critically reflect on your own practise and agree targets for development

What may it lead to?

After successfully completing the study programmes you could progress onto a full time UAL Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in one of four pathways of Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre or Production This course also gives you the opportunity to develop key skills that are essential for employment

Entry Requirements

You must have: Four GCSEs at grade D (or above including English, Maths & Drama or Dance) / a Level 1 Diploma / an equivalent qualification Entry on the course is subject to interview

Work Experience

You will perform in a professional theatre built to industry standards You will have the opportunity to design and develop your own drama workshops for students within the college, you will also have the opportunity to share their practise with schools in the local area During the course you will visit local theatres and experience professional performances and touring companies, including Q & A sessions and workshops

Additional Information & Other Costs

Students can re-sit GCSE English and Maths to improve their grades Additional support needs are identified during enrolment and strategies put in place before the start of the academic year
