{if "<p>The full-time one year HNC or two year HND programme is designed to train you to become an "} What stands out about this course?The full-time one year HNC or two year HND programme is designed to train you to become an actor and a performer. There is a strong element of practical work and the College maintains excellent links with local and national theatres, creating opportunities for you to experience the reality of performance. You will use our Theatre, Dance and Performance studios with a rehearsal room and stagecraft department.
The course is delivered by enthusiastic staff with a breadth and depth of industry experience. It is divided into core and optional units covering all aspects of performing arts from research, performance and production to professional practice and management. Throughout the course you will develop skills in acting, dance and singing.
The course is structured around three areas of study:
- Performance work: in our studio theatre, on tour and in small theatre venues
- Knowledge: independent and group research in the history of contemporary theatre, how theatre companies work, copyright and health and safety
- Skills: including acting technique, movement for actors, voice, singing and dance, and basic stage design

- After successful completion of the HNC you may be able to study a relevant HND (at Craven College subject to student numbers)
- After competion of the HND you may be able to progress to a top-up to a full degree at an appropriate university
- Career in performance in the theatre or community organisations
