About this course
You can progress to study for a NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, or any other related trades or continue to study on a BTEC First Certificate in Engineering.
You'll require GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above, but we will consider learners with Grade 3 (D) if you have experience from Level 1 Performing Engineering Operations.

Course programme
The EAL Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations is made up of 3 mandatory units and 3 optional units.
Mandatory units:
- Working safely in an engineering environment,
- Carrying out engineering activities efficiently & effectively,
- Using and communicating technical information.
Optional units:
- Producing components using hand fitting techniques,
- Preparing and using lathes for turning operations,
- Preparing and using milling machines.
Course Assessment Method
Evidence of competence is gathered and compiled by you throughout the academic year. Continuous observation is made by the tutor.
Tutor marked workbooks will be used to provide evidence of basic workshop theory. You will produce a portfolio which will be assessed by the College and external examiners - EAL (EMTA Awards Limited).
