The Programme
The Learning Access Programme is specifically designed for those learners who have found it difficult to study in schools and other educational environments.
Young people who have missed out on long periods of schooling or find a rigid timetable challenging will find this programme ideal. Learners may have become disengaged from education and need a personalised learning plan to enable them to progress and access future learning, training or work opportunities.
The Programme Content
The programme looks at not only academic study but also at developing social, emotional and behavioural skills.
Students are given the opportunity to study GCSEs, Functional Skills and Challenge Awards if appropriate. An Individual Progression Pathway involving a good deal of off site and activity based learning is created for each student. Some learners find a full timetable difficult to take on at first, in these cases a variable programme of study is agreed between the learner and the tutor. Regular reviews of progress are made by the personal tutor these include feedback from other lecturers, support staff, personal development workers and other external agencies.
Progression / Careers
The programme supports learners so that they can enter further education courses, including vocational and work based training.
