Programme overview
This programme is designed for non-clinicians, graduates in psychology or a related subject, or people working in healthcare who want to gain further continuous professional development in this field.
Bristol is one of only two UK universities offering a nationally approved, professionally accredited training programme that provides specialist training in clinical neuropsychology. A substantial portion of the taught content is provided by clinicians working within the NHS. The taught element is identical to the accredited clinical programme provided to UK-registered clinicians wanting to specialise in clinical neuropsychology, and meets the British Psychological Society requirements for the knowledge dimension of the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN).
Applied neuropsychology remains an important element of clinical healthcare across the world. Conditions such brain injury, stroke, epilepsy and various forms of dementia are common and as people live longer the prevalence of neurological syndromes places greater demands on healthcare systems. This training places people in a strong position to help meet these growing needs.
There is a strong focus on patient care, diagnostics, treatment and management for a range of neurological conditions, which will deepen your knowledge and experience and prepare you for work in a wide range of neuropsychology and clinical positions.
All lectures are broadcast live online using Adobe Connect and can be viewed at a later date. Some units are provided in a block of teaching (ie one unit over a single week) while others are delivered weekly. Students are expected to attend the week-long blocks in person.
There is a distance learning version of this programme for international students, for full details see the programme description.
