About this Course (This course is validated by the University of Brighton and delivered by Northbrook College) Trainees with dependants may qualify for additional support. The central aim of this course is the development of practical skills and personal confidence as a professional teacher in further education. Trainees will be given the opportunity to work in a busy, thriving department on a variety of courses and levels up to Foundation Degree level, and will be supported by an experienced mentor throughout this process. Course Leader Paul Tully explains what makes Northbrook's PGCE course unique: "Northbrook's PGCE makes a direct and valuable contribution to the quality courses and support provided by Northbrook College. PGCE students work closely with students on specialist design, fashion, theatre and music courses â involving long hours and bundles of dedication and commitment to ensure that students achieve their qualification goals. Over half of the 2013/14 cohort are already employed in schools and colleges. Northbrookâs PGCE is unique to the South because it offers a specialist route for creative students to acquire their teaching qualification. Students as far as Wales and Manchester are travelling down to study their PGCE at Northbrook because they want to work with Grade 1 facilities and work with mentors and staff who are driving excellence through the Creative Curriculum. In this austere climate, Northbrook PGCE students are getting jobs in FE Colleges and Sixth Forms up and down the country." Trainees will be encouraged to use modern technologies to produce teaching resources and gain experience in the planning, delivery and assessment of learning. Students who are eligible for the PGCE will have specialisms in one...
