Course programme

The 11-18 PGCE in History is an innovative and intensive nine month course preparing graduates for the demands of teaching the 11-18 age range in the Secondary sector. The History PGCE will allow students the opportunity to explore what school history should be, and to create an imaginative series of lessons that engage pupils’ interests while enabling them to progress in their understanding of the discipline of History. You will be awarded a PGCE and recommended for Qualified Teacher Status, enabling you to teach in schools on completion of the course. The course is organised in partnership with schoolsaround Kent and Medway where you will spend 24 out of the 36 weeks teaching in two different schools.
