Study Method:
This is a part time two year course.
Normal attendance is one day per week at college.

The course is designed for those who are seeking to enter the first stages of higher education and would benefit those who are employed in photography and are able to undertake this study on a part-time day release from employment.
Those looking for a career change will find this course suitable, working adults and those looking for a course that balances technical skills and creativity equally.
This course would be well suited for individuals looking to express themselves visually.
Assessment:
Assessment is based on assignments set throughout the course.
Each assignment develops both technical skills and creative thinking.
Course Leads To:
Students can progress to Higher National Diploma in Photography normally this can completed over one years additional part time study.
Alternatively students will prepare a portfolio of photography work for presentation to prospective clients which could range from editorial and media through to fashion advertising or fine art photography. The course would also be suitable for independent photography workers and freelance photographers who wish to expand.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants will usually have advanced level qualifications including a photographic qualification.
Mature students with appropriate experience and educational attainment sufficient for them to benefit from the course will also be considered.
Entry will be decided by portfolio interview.
Content:
The course covers a range of options with professional photography including:
- Photographic Practice
- Studio and Darkroom Practice
- Fashion Photography
- Location Photography
In the first year of the course, all the areas of professional photography will be included as a common core programme. This approach will give an overview of the photographic industry and will allow choice and specialism to be developed in the second year, focusing on a final major project.
In addition to the development of practical skills you will develop your undertaking of the ideas and critcal thinking.
