Description of course:
The first year of the course involves a general introduction to print, audio and moving image media. This will involve the study of professional products such as magazines, films, radio and exhibitions, as well as the planning, producing and marketing of your own media products. There will be an opportunity in the second year to study print journalism, television, video and audio.

Method of assessment:
The course is assessed on the basis of both practical work and of written accounts of your own work and professional products.

Progression opportunities and careers:
Enter media employment at a trainee level. Go to college or university to study for a degree level course for example in journalism, film, video or TV. Start work at an assistant level and undertake a related NVQ or other occupational qualifications.

Entry requirements:
A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade C or above or a pass grade at a Level 2 vocational course.

Specific entry requirements:
A GCSE English or Humanities subject at grade C or above.

Additional qualifications studied:
All full time students will undertake a combination of additional qualifications that will enhance their study skills and those skills that will be important in employment.
