Overview
This course aims to produce outstanding teachers whose enthusiasm for Physics inspires pupils in their study of the subject. There is currently great demand for Science teachers in UK secondary schools and Liverpool Hope offers the support you need as you embark on a rewarding teaching career. The Physics tutor team provides personalised support for you to develop your subject knowledge and pedagogy across key stages 3 and 4 and at post 16 level in Physics. School based mentors work alongside University tutors to focus on individual student’s development needs during their school based practice. The Physics course is small enough for tutors to focus on your individual needs but large enough to provide a forum for sharing experiences and supporting peers in a way that enhances your progress.
All Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) courses at Liverpool Hope offer students the opportunity to combine a programme of theory with real world experience. The initial professional development focuses on what underpins the work of an effective and successful teacher, while school placements offer you the opportunity to put theory into practice.
Initial Professional Development (IPD): This part of the programme covers the general, more holistic aspects of becoming a teacher. It is largely lecture-based supported by discussion-based seminars with an assigned professional tutor. IPD develops the student teacher's knowledge and understanding of a range of key issues in education.
