Day One: An introduction to picture framing: Learners will make a frame to conservation standards. Day Two: Day two is a more flexible day allowing participants to concentrate on their own specific needs and will have been arranged between us and yourself prior to commencement. Suitable for: A one or two day course especially suitable for visual artists who would like to be able to do their own framing without the need of workshops and machinery.

Andrew Stevenson
Picture Framer
Andrews full resume can be provided upon request. Broadly, Andrew is an artist and craftsman with extensive experience spanning 40 years in this and associated industries. He has managed large operations in printing and weaving industries, worked as a carpenter and restorer of furniture and has been practising as a professional artist and picture framer for the past 12 years. His breadth of knowledge and experience makes him an excellent tutor for people with a range of needs.

As well as being a full time framer for the past four years, Liam has taught in local schools and colleges and maintains a practice as an artist and writer alongside these activities.
Course programme
During Day one we take you through the various aspects of picture framing. You will have a framed piece of work (to conservation standards) by the days end! Broad areas covered include: Health and safety; layout of workshop; planning, measuring and recording work; using the three main types of machinery and handtools.
Day two provides an opportunity for students to learn aspects of advanced bespoke work. Or, they may explore any specific framing needs that they might have and/or to work on any specific aspects of framing by prior arrangement.
