About this Course

This course is ideally suited to learners who have completed the Plumbing Studies Diploma Level 1 and would like to start a career in plumbing. The Level 2 qualification will help you learn the trade and progress onto an NVQ when employment is gained.

Course programme

What will I study?
  • You will develop your skills in cold water systems, hot water systems, sanitation, central heating systems and drainage systems
  • You will learn various plumbing techniques
  • You will learn the installation of various pipework, materials and components
  • You will learn to develop your practical skills and use of craft tools
  • Functional Skills in maths and English (for those who have not achieved GCSE grades C or above in these subjects)

    What added value will I receive?
    • The Construction department, which includes plumbing, was awarded a grade one ‘Outstanding’ for its teaching and learning by Ofsted
    • The plumbing workshops have been refurbished to a high standard ensuring learners’ needs are met while developing employability skills

      What can I progress to?
      • Successful completion of the course could lead to gaining employment within the plumbing industry and enrol on to a Plumbing NVQ Level 2 course
      • For learners who do not gain employment, a Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing is available to further develop your skills

        What are the entry requirements?
        You will be expected to have completed the Plumbing Studies Diploma Level 1 if you are new to the industry.
