You do not need to have any prior knowledge, but you will be assessed on your English and Maths skills at interview.

  • Minimum Literacy Level: Entry 2

  • You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing - for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.
  • Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 2

  • You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.


What qualification will I receive?
EMTA Performing Engineering Operations NVQ Level 1

Where can it lead?
NVQ Level II in Mechanical Engineering Services - Plumbing or possible employment in the Mechanical Services Engineering Industry.

What will I study?
Units you will study include, working safely in an engineering environment, working efficiently and effectively in engineering, and using and communicating technical information.
There are also optional units you can study including, carrying out pipe fitting components, and using manual flame and soldering equipment.

How will I be taught?
The course is predominately workshop/activity based allowing you to gain relevant practical skills.

How will I be assessed?
You will compile a portfolio of work which is assessed and verified as the course progresses

All students will be allocated a personal tutor and the colleges extensive learning resources are available to all students
