Who is this course for?
This course is for school leavers who wish to pursue a career in Plumbing or Heating & Ventilation.

What are the entry requirements?
You do not need to have any prior knowledge; but you will be assessed on your English and Maths skills at interview.
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.

• Minimum Literacy Level: Entry 2

You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing - for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.
• Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 2

You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.

What qualification will I receive?
EMTA VRQ in Engineering & Technology Level 1 - Plumbing.

Where can it lead?
Certificate in Basic Plumbing Studies Level 2 or possible employment in the Mechanical Services Engineering Industry.

What will I study?
Subjects you will study include understanding working in engineering. There are also optional units you can study including, understanding machining engineering materials, understanding cutting, forming and assembling engineering materials, understanding joining materials, forming and assembly of common plumbing materials.

How will I be taught?
The course is a mixture of workshop activities and theory classes, giving you the required knowledge to gain the VRQ Award.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by on-line tests, internal phase tests and practical project work.

What support is available while I am on the course?
All students will be allocated a personal tutor and the colleges extensive learning resources are available to all students.
