Post-Tensioned Concrete Suspended Slabs
Introduction
Post-tensioned concrete is increasingly becoming the preferred solution for larger span suspended floor slabs.
Design issues will include shear at column heads, long term shortening effect on columns and shear walls, detailing around voids, secondary reinforcement etc. Participants will have the opportunity to work through an example from The Concrete Society report TR43 and compare the results with commercial software solutions.
Course Content:
- Brief history and overview of construction systems
- Review of The Concrete Society's Handbook TR43
- Worked example of a PT Slab using TR43
- Conceptual design using current software packages
- Q & A.
