Practical Cake Craft (Creative Cake Production)

Practical cake Craft course has been designed to allow those interested in Cake Baking and Cake Finishing to enhance their skills. The course is mainly focussed on skills development. Assessment approaches are proportionate and fit for purpose. They will promote best practice enabling learners to achieve the highest standards they can. The course is practical and experimental in nature, develops a range of cake-baking and cake finishing skills in Hospitality related contexts. It enables learners to develop, consolidate and demonstrate creative techniques in the production of cakes and other baked items. It develops thinking skills of understanding, analysing, evaluating, while aspects of numeracy, employability skills and the ability to work safely and hygienically are similarly developed.

The course has two mandatory units plus the course assessment; the units are; Cake baking and Cake finishing.

This course is quality assured by SQA and is externally verified.

Classes are held in a fully equipped kitchen and delivered by a subject specialist.
