Egg tempera is an ancient painting technique requiring the artist to make the paint from scratch by mixing egg yolk
with pigment before each painting session. The paint is built up in thin layers and linear marks to create distinctive
effects. Traditionally tempera paint is applied to a panel coated in gesso – a mixture of chalk and rabbit skin glue.
This course will offer an introduction to these techniques and processes.
