Discovering what skills you need to be a presenter and guest expert for home shopping TV. This is a practical course set in the City Lit’s TV studio equipped with up to date professional broadcast industry equipment. The tutor, a BBC trained TV director with over 25 years of experience directing mainstream programmes for BBC and ITV, has trained several shopping channel presenters and guest experts for a range of well-known channels.

No extra costs. Bring notepad and pen. You may be asked to bring products for your demo. The studio is solid state (tapeless), your recordings can be given to you during the course if you bring 10 - 15 GB usb or Mac compatible hard drive.

Analysis of different shopping channel styles, presenters and performance, how to be the main presenter and guest expert, how to structure the ‘sell’, demo a product without a formal script, talk to time using in-ear monitoring. Do’s and don’ts of shopping channel presenting.
In-class practical exercises will be recorded on camera and played back with helpful constructive comments. There may be some weekly prep such as viewing shopping channels and preparing demos. Reading So You Want to be a TV Presenter published by Nick Hern Books, and The TV Presenter’s Career Handbook published by Focal Press will be very useful, both written by the tutor.Additional information
