About this course

Entry requirements A minimum of 120 UCAS Tariff points from a maximum of 3 ½ A Levels (or equivalent Level 3 qualifications). Plus at least 6 GCSEs at Grades A-C, including Maths, English Language and Science Post-16 qualifications should, for preference, have some National Curriculum relevance. It may be beneficial if qualifications reflected the likely choice of curriculum focus, for example, A Level Science. If you have lived overseas for three months or more in the last five years...

Year 1

Term One
Common programme spanning 3-11 years.
Professional Studies; Core Subjects 1 (English, Mathematics and Science); ICT.
Serial school experience - opportunity to work in all age phases.

Term Two
Age phase programme to be pursued for duration or course: 3-7 years or 5-11 years.
Professional Studies; Foundation Subjects 1 (Art, History, PE).
Block school experience (4 weeks).

Term Three
Professional Studies; Core Subjects 2 (English, Mathematics and Science); ICT;
Foundation Subjects 1 (DT, Geography and Music).

Year 2

Term One
Professional Studies; Core Subjects 3 (English, Mathematics and Science); Foundation Subjects 2 (Art, Geography, History and PE).
Block school experience ( weeks).

Term Two
Professional Studies; PSHE and Citizenship; Core Subjects 4 (English, Mathematics and Science); ICT; Foundation Subjects 2 (DT and Music); Religious Education 1.

Term Three
Professional Studies; Religious Education .
Block school experience (7 weeks).

Year 3

Term One
Professional Studies: Initial preparation for NQT; Core Subjects (English, Mathematics and Science cross curricular module); ICT; Professional Development Research Project , Research Methods.Serial school experience. (1 week) plus block placement (8 weeks)

Term Two
Block school experience (8 weeks) including classroom-based, small-scale research project.

Term Three
Completion of: Professional Studies: Final preparation for NQT; Core Subjects 5 (English, Mathematics and Science); ICT; Professional Research in Specialist Subject (including Research Methods and Curriculum Area option).

An absolute pleasure and could not have spent a better 3 years of my life. It was a joy to be here and I only have fond memories of UW. I'm sad to leave.
