Key Learning Points

This package entitles candidates to sit both Foundation and Practitioner level certification exams.

The PRINCE2® Foundation exam is made up of 70 questions (plus five practice questions) that must be completed within sixty minutes. Students will have their existing knowledge of PRINCE2® project management methodologies tested to ensure that they fully understand the basic aspects of the framework and how they are applied to ensure a successful project outcome.

To pass the Foundation exam candidates will need to demonstrate that they can:

• Define the purpose and major content of all roles, components, processes and themes that are described in the PRINCE2® manual.
• Identify the source or derivation of the management products, from their purpose and/or key content.
• Highlight the relationships between products, processes, roles and the management dimensions of a project.

Once the Foundation level exam has been passed, the student can move on with their study of the Practitioner level concepts, or arrange to sit the higher-level exam shortly after.

The PRINCE2® Practitioner exam is made up of 80 questions, grouped into eight sets of ten to test a range of topics. Observed by a dedicated invigilator using a webcam to maintain exam conditions, students have two and a half hours (150 minutes) to answer all 80 questions. Students will have their knowledge of the advanced PRINCE2® project management methodologies tested thoroughly to ensure that they fully understand all aspects of the framework and how to apply them in a corporate environment to improve project outcomes.

To pass the Practitioner-level exam candidates will need to demonstrate that they can:

• Produce detailed explanations of all principles, themes and processes along with worked examples of all PRINCE2® products as they might be applied to address the project scenario outlined in the exam paper.
• Show understanding of the relationships between principles, processes and themes of PRINCE2® products, and how they are all applied correctly.
• Understand the reasons behind the principles, processes, and themes of PRINCE2® and the elements that support each.
• Demonstrate their ability to adjust the PRINCE2® framework to meet different project circumstances according to specific stakeholder needs and project constraints.

This is an open book examination taken over the Internet and, like the Foundation exam, is observed remotely by an invigilator via webcam.
